As the Democratic National Convention gears up in Charlotte, NC the presidential race is tight, with recent RealClearPolitics polling summaries showing pretty much a dead heat in the race for the US Presidency. Of course with some Republican Convention buzz still in the air it's fairly likely that Obama will again pull ahead if the Democrats put on anything other than a bad show in Charlotte this week.

Where the Republicans were working hard to look inclusive, showcasing their "weak" voting blocks of hispanic, black, and female, we'll see plenty of diversity at the Democratic Convention. However with the democrats it will be interesting to see if the approach is to consolidate and fire up the "base" or try to veer a bit right to include more independent and moderates in the final tallies.
